What does comprehensive on an auto policy cover?

Joyce asked, "What does comprehensive coverage on my auto insurance cover, like theft of my laptop from my car?"

A: No, Joyce that would be a homeowner claim or renter's insurance claim. Fire, theft, glass and collision with an animal is what an auto comprehensive covers. See the video in my reply to her.

Tom's tip: If you have an older car that maybe you want to delete some coverage on, delete collision (car might not be worth fixing) but keep on comprehensive just for the $0 deductible glass coverage. (Or if you store a nicer car for the winter, keep on comprehensive coverage)
